JEFFERSON PARISH DEPARTMENT OF FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT & HAZARD MITIGATION ANNOUNCES ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORTS FOR FLOOD INSURANCE DISCOUNTS

Every year, the Jefferson Parish Department of Floodplain Management and Hazard Mitigation implements floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)’s Community Rating System (CRS).

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING ISSUED FOR JEFFERSON PARISH

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Jefferson Parish effective today (Monday, July 31, 2023) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

ROAD CLOSURE: ELMWOOD PARK BOULEVARD AT MOUNES STREET

Starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023, Elmwood Park Boulevard at Mounes Street will be closed as follows:

ROAD CLOSURE: MANHATTAN BOULEVARD AT LAPALCO BOULEVARD

Starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023, one northbound lane of Manhattan Boulevard at Lapalco Boulevard and one lane of the dual east-to-north left turn lanes on eastbound Lapalco will be closed.

ROAD CLOSURES: VETERANS BOULEVARD

Starting today (Monday, July 24, 2023) the following construction projects will begin on Veterans Boulevard.

JEFFERSON PARISH LIBRARY'S AUGUST WRITERS' CLINIC TO FEATURE GARY ARNOLD, ALEXANDREA WEIS

Local authors and educators Gary Arnold and Alexandrea Weis will be featured in the August Saturday Writers’ Clinic beginning at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., in Metairie.

JEFFERSON PARISH TO HOST COMMUNITY RESOURCES JAMBOREE

In partnership with the United Cajun Navy and ICNA Relief, the Jefferson Engagement and Community Programs cluster, which includes the following departments: Citizens’ Affairs, Community Development, JeffCAP, Senior Services, Cross Cultural, American Job Center and Workforce Development, will be hosting a Community Resources Jamboree on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John A. Alario Center (2000 Segnette Blvd., Westwego, LA 70094).
