Jefferson Parish is actively monitoring the risk of a rare and hazardous arctic airmass later this week and is prepared to respond.

JEFFERSON PARISH OFFERS TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR THOSE IMPACTED BY TORNADO

JEFFERSON, LA – In partnership with GOHSEP, Jefferson Parish Government and the City of Gretna will be offering temporary housing in travel trailers at Bayou Segnette State Park for those who were impacted by the tornado that qualify.

JEFFERSON PARISH PREPARES FOR SEVERE WEATHER

Due to the anticipated inclement weather, all Jefferson Parish libraries, Head Start and Early Head Start Centers, JPRD parks and playgrounds will close at 12 p.m. today, December 14, 2022. All JPRD programming will be suspended today starting at 12 p.m., including the Christmas in the Park lights at Lafreniere Park.

JEFFERSON PARISH HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS MATERIALS COLLECTION EVENT RESCHEDULED TO SATURDAY, DEC. 17, 2022

The Department of Environmental Affairs; a Keep American Beautiful affiliate and in partnership with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office LASER Division, E3 OMI and the Department of General Service, has rescheduled the Household Hazardous Materials (HHM) event to Saturday, December 17, 2022, to collect from Jefferson Parish residents.

ATHERTON DRIVE, HOLLYWOOD DRIVE, FARNHAM PLACE AND WEST OAKRIDGE PARK TO CLOSE FOR RAILROAD CROSSING REPLACEMENT

Norfolk Southern Railroad will begin the next phase of construction on its Back Belt rail line with the replacement of four Metairie railroad crossings, which will result in road closures from Monday, December 5, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. through Friday, December 9, 2022 at 6 p.m., weather permitting.

JEFFERSON PARISH OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE 36TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK

Jefferson Parish will kick off the 36TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK on Friday, December 2, 2022. Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng and Councilman Dominick F. Impastato, III, along with other Jefferson Parish elected officials, will flip the switch for this annual display at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, with a lighting ceremony near the concession stand in Lafreniere Park, which is located at 3000 Downs Boulevard in Metairie.

JEFFERSON PARISH LIFTS BOIL WATER ADVISORY ISSUED FOR PARTS OF GRAND ISLE

In conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Health, the Jefferson Parish Water Department is lifting the Boil Water Advisory today, November 23, 2022, for the area in Grand Isle between Cheniere and Rosethorn Lane based on the analysis of the bacteriological samples collected within the distribution system on November 22, 2022.

JEFFERSON PARISH OFFICES CLOSED ON THURSDAY, NOV. 24 AND FRIDAY, NOV. 25 IN OBSERVANCE OF THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

All Jefferson Parish Government offices, including the Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services (JPAWS), will be closed on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25, 2022, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
