JEFFERSON PARISH RECOGNIZES NATIONAL LEAD POISONING PREVENTION WEEK

National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (October 23-29, 2022), a partnership between the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is a call to bring together individuals, organizations, industry and governments to reduce childhood exposure to lead by increasing lead poisoning prevention awareness

FREE GENEALOGY SERIES FOR BEGINNERS AND INTERMEDIATES OFFERED AT EAST BANK REGIONAL LIBRARY

Gwen Kelley, a librarian at the East Bank Regional Library in Metairie who specializes in genealogy, will lead a series of 15 genealogical seminars for beginners and intermediates beginning in January 2023.

JEFFERSON PARISH ANNOUNCES U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD), CDBG, HOME AND HESG FUNDING FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPERS

The Jefferson Parish Department of Community Development (JPDCD) is calling all interested nonprofit organizations and affordable housing developers to apply to administer eligible CDBG, HOME and HESG funding.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022, the intersection of Metairie Heights Ave. and W. Napoleon Ave. will be closed.

BOO-2-U AND TRUNK OR TREAT AT LAFRENIERE PARK TO TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, OCT. 22, 2022

The Dawn Busters Kiwanis Club of Metairie will be hosting the first-ever, BOO-2-U and the 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Lafreniere Park (3000 Downs Blvd., Metairie, LA 70003) located near the carousel.

The Jefferson Parish Personnel Department will be hosting two informational job fair events for all people interested in learning about job opportunities with the Jefferson Parish Public Works Departments.

ROAD CLOSURE: WHITNEY AVE. BETWEEN CAROL SUE AVE. AND STUMPF BLVD.

Starting tomorrow (October 12, 2022) at 6 a.m., the northbound right lane of Whitney Ave. between Carol Sue Ave. and Stumpf Blvd. will be closed continuously. 

JEFFERSON PARISH DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS TO BE RECOGNIZED AT WEFTEC 2022 CONFERENCE FOR TWO BRONZE AWARDS

The Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs has been selected as a bronze winner in two separate categories, Program Management and Innovation, under the WEF National Municipal Stormwater and Green Infrastructure Awards Program, and will be recognized on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Stormwater Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) theatre during the WEFTEC 2022 conference.

JEFFERSON PARISH TO CONDUCT AERIAL SPRAYING FOR MOSQUITOES ON THURSDAY, OCT. 6, 2022

Aerial spraying, in response to mosquito activity, is scheduled to take place on the East and West Banks of Jefferson Parish on the evening of Thursday, October 6, 2022 over parts of Metairie, Old Jefferson, Gretna, Estelle and Lafitte/Barataria, weather conditions permitting.

ROAD CLOSURE: DAVID DRIVE AT WEST NAPOLEON AVE. AND DAVID DRIVE AT VETERANS BLVD.

Starting today (October 4, 2022) at 6:30 p.m., David Drive at westbound West Napoleon Ave. and David Drive at Veterans Blvd. will be closed intermittently.
