JEFFERSON PARISH PREPARES FOR 2024 HURRICANE SEASON
June 1, 2024 officially marked the beginning of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts above-normal hurricane activity in the Atlantic basin this year. Jefferson Parish officials are urging all residents to stay aware and prepare now to protect their family, friends and property in the event of a major storm or hurricane this year.

The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) recognized Jefferson Parish with an Honor Award for the “Move Metairie Tracking Forward” app.
ROAD CLOSURE: FAGOT AVENUE
Fagot Avenue between Metairie Lawn Drive and Ridgelake Drive will be closed continuously through Thursday, August 15, 2024.
HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED FOR JEFFERSON PARISH ON MEMORIAL DAY
JEFFERSON, LA – The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Jefferson Parish effective on Monday, May 27, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Heat index values near 108 degrees are expected in the area.
ROAD CLOSURE: SOUTH LABARRE ROAD AT JEFFERSON HIGHWAY
The north and south bound lanes of South Labarre Road at the intersection of Jefferson Highway will be closed starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2024.
JEFFERSON PARISH GOVERNMENT CLOSED MONDAY, MAY 27, 2024 IN OBSERVANCE OF MEMORIAL DAY
All Jefferson Parish Government offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
LANE CLOSURES: WESTBOUND LAPALCO BOULEVARD
The right lane of westbound Lapalco Boulevard between Lincolnshire Drive and Westwood Drive will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 and Friday, June 17, 2024.
ROAD CLOSURE: EASTBOUND WEST ESPLANADE AVENUE
Both eastbound lanes of West Esplanade Avenue between Power Boulevard and Craig Avenue will be closed continuously starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024.
JEFFERSON PARISH RESPONDS TO THURSDAY’S SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS, PREPARES FOR ADDITIONAL THREATS LATE FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY
Jefferson Parish continues to monitor the possibility of inclement weather Friday (May 17, 2024) evening through Saturday morning (May 18, 2024); strong damaging winds, flash flooding, possible tornadoes and hail remain the biggest threats.
LANE CLOSURE: WEST ESPLANADE AVENUE
The left lane of westbound West Esplanade Avenue between North Arnoult Road and Edenborn Avenue will be closed daily between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. starting Monday, May 20, 2024.
