NEW ORLEANS RESILIENCE CORPS JOBS PROGRAM EXPANDS TO COMBAT COVID-19

Resilience Force, an organization dedicated to strengthening our country’s response to disasters including the COVID-19 pandemic and climate-related damages following major hurricanes, fires or floods, announces a partnership with Jefferson Parish to expand their reach.

AERIAL SPRAYING FOR MOSQUITOES

Aerial spraying in response to mosquito activity is scheduled to take place on the East and West Banks of Jefferson Parish on the evening of Thursday, October 7, 2021 over all incorporated and unincorporated areas, excluding Grand Isle, weather permitting.

LAFITTE, GRAND ISLE RESIDENTS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR STATE SHELTERING PROGRAM

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced that the state of Louisiana, through the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), has launched the Hurricane Ida Sheltering Program, which will provide temporary housing to certain residents in heavily impacted areas where other sheltering options are currently unavailable, including parts of lower Jefferson Parish.

JEFFERSON PARISH COUNCIL TO HOLD SPECIAL MEETING

The Jefferson Parish Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the second floor chambers at the Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Boulevard, Jefferson, 70123.

OPERATION BLUE ROOF EXTENDED THROUGH OCTOBER 15, 2021

JEFFERSON, LA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended its Blue Roof program sign-up deadline through October 15, 2021 for residents who sustained Hurricane Ida damage in the 25 eligible parishes, including Jefferson Parish.

GARBAGE COLLECTION SCHEDULE FOR LOWER LAFITTE & BARATARIA TO CHANGE TEMPORARILY

In response to the impacts of Hurricane Ida, garbage collection in Lower Lafitte and Barataria will be taking place on Sundays instead of the routine Tuesday/Friday collection schedule.

ROAD CLOSURE: LAPALCO BRIDGE OVER BAYOU SEGNETTE

Starting on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 7 a.m., the Lapalco Blvd. Bridge over Bayou Segnette will close in both directions on a continuous basis.

AERIAL SPRAYING SCHEDULED IN THE GRAND ISLE AREA OF JEFFERSON PARISH TO REDUCE MOSQUITO NUMBERS AFTER HURRICANE IDA

Jefferson Parish and Grand Isle officials have scheduled an aerial spray operation this week for Grand Isle to help reduce the number of mosquitoes resulting from the flooding caused by Hurricane Ida.
