THERE WILL BE NO GARBAGE COLLECTION ON MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 2020, IN OBSERVANCE OF THE MARTIN LUTHER KING HOLIDAY

JEFFERSON, LA – There will be no garbage collection for all residents of unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the town of Jean Lafitte on Martin Luther King Day, January 20, 2020; however, curbside recycling will take place as normally scheduled.

LANE CLOSURE DAVID DRIVE

Starting on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, the two northbound lanes of David Drive in Metairie will close between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.

HOLIDAY LIGHT RECYCLING PROGRAM TO BEGIN IN JEFFERSON PARISH

Jefferson, LA – The Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs, a Keep America/Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate, in partnership with Waste Connections, Inc., will begin recycling holiday light strands at two Jefferson Parish trash/recycling drop sites beginning, Monday, January 13th, 2020. This recycling program will be accessible throughout the year.

According to the National Weather Service, Jefferson Parish is under a “Marginal Risk” to a “Slight Risk” of severe weather late Friday night and an “Enhanced Risk” of severe weather on Saturday morning, clearing up on Saturday afternoon to evening.

JEFFERSON PARISH CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING GUIDELINES

Christmas trees will be collected curbside January 9, 10 and 11, 2020. Residents throughout the parish, including unincorporated areas of Jean Lafitte, Gretna, Harahan, Kenner and Westwego, should place their trees curbside on the evening of Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

The elected officials of Jefferson Parish will take their oaths of office  Wednesday, January 8, 2020.  The ceremony will begin at 10:00am in the Senator Ken Hollis Theater at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, 6400 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana.

UPDATED JEFFERSON PARISH CRS REPORTS

Jefferson Parish participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)’s Community Rating System (CRS). The CRS program rewards participating communities for implementing floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum requirements of the NFIP. These rewards are in the form of flood insurance discounts. Jefferson Parish communities see over $12 million in flood insurance savings annually through its CRS activities.
