The Lafreniere Sub Area Plan is a planning initiative sponsored by former Jefferson Parish District 4 Councilman Dominick lmpastato with support from the Jefferson Parish Planning Department and assembled by the consultant team of Digital Engineering, Asakura Robinson, and Peperone-Pitre. On November 6, 2019, the Parish Council adopted the Lafreniere Subarea Plan into Envision Jefferson 2040 Comprehensive Plan. To view the plan, click below:

The plan outlined several policy recommendations, implementation strategies, and actions. A main focus of the plan is to evaluate the existing land use and zoning in the area, including signage, and recommend proposed changes.

In summer of 2020, consultants N-Y Associates began working on a study on the implementation of the Sub Area Plan and preparing amendments to the zoning map and zoning text to effectuate the recommended strategies of the sub area plan. The amendments to the plan and associated text & map amendments were overwhelmingly approved by the Planning Advisory Board and the Jefferson Parish Council in June of 2021. On December 8, 2021, the Parish Council adopted Ordinance # 26316, which provides for the amortization of nonconforming signs for properties zoned Town Center Mixed Use District (TCMU) along the portion of David Dr. between W. Napoleon Ave. and Veterans Memorial Blvd. For more information on the sign amortization along David Drive, click below:
