JEFFERSON PARISH, LOUISIANA
August 23, 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS OF UNINCORPORATED
JEFFERSON PARISH AND THE TOWN OF JEAN LAFITTE:
GARBAGE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION ON MONDAY, AUGUST 24
HAS BEEN SUSPENDED DUE TO TROPICAL STORMS LAURA AND MARCO
JEFFERSON, LA – All curbside garbage and recycling services are cancelled this Monday, August 24, 2020 due to Tropical Storms Laura and Marco.
Residents are advised not to place their garbage cans and recycling bins at the curb for pick up. All garbage and recycling containers should be placed in a secure location away from open spaces.
Any bulk waste material, such as furniture, tree limbs, grass clippings, scrap appliances, waste tires and construction debris should not be placed curbside for bulk waste collection. Bulk waste should be removed from the curb and secured in a safe location so that it does not become a safety hazard and clog storm drains in the event of street flooding. Residents should bundle and tie down all loose trash such as tree limbs and place these materials in a location where debris cannot become hazardous to homes and vehicles in high winds.
