JEFFERSON PARISH TO HOST LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE SENIOR OUTREACH EVENT

JEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Community Action Programs Department (JeffCAP) will be hosting a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) outreach event on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Kenner Senior Center (641 Compromise Street, Kenner, LA 70062).

This outreach event, limited to 125 clients and open only to Jefferson Parish residents, is to provide eligible residents with utility assistance through the LiHEAP-Cooling funding allocation. Please note, a household cannot have previously received a LiHEAP-Cooling during this allocation period. Attendees should have copies of ALL documentation needed to process their application on hand or it will not be processed. See below for required documentation needed to process your application:

  1. Current Louisiana Driver’s License, Louisiana State Picture I.D. or Passport for ALL household members over 18 years
  2. Social Security Cards for all Household members
  3. Currently bills for active utility accounts for Electricity and Gas
  4. Proof of Address
  5. Proof of income for ALL household members. Income may consist of one or more of the following:
    1. Four (4) recent consecutive check stubs containing year-to-date (YTD) information
    2. W-2s for previous year
    3. Current copies of Unemployment Benefits, Workers Compensation Benefits, Alimony, Railroad Retirement, Veterans Benefits, or etc.
    4. Copies of tax returns with all schedules for 2022 for self-employed
    5. Current Social Security and/or SSI Award Letters (2024 ALL PAGES)
    6. Bank statement may be used for SSA and/or SSI income (Dated within last 30 days)
    7. Current private pensions or government employee pensions (Must show gross amount)
    8. Section 8/Subsidized Housing-Utility Allowance (Contract sheet and form 52667)
    9. Zero Income Form for anyone 18 years and older in household without income
