The Jefferson Parish Finance Department is the recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 26th consecutive year. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting; its attainment represents a significant achievement. The GFOA of the United States and Canada recognizes Timothy Palmatier, Finance Director, Victor J. LaRocca, III, Budget Director and the staff of the Budget Department for the budget preparation and presentation for Fiscal Year beginning January 1, 2019. Award recipients are selected based upon achieving nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, including how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all 4 ranking categories and the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award Program is the only National Awards Program in governmental budgeting. The Government Finance Officers Association advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 20,500 members and the communities they serve. ### |
