JEFFERSON PARISH, LOUISIANA

JEFFERSON PARISH OFFICES CLOSED ON MONDAY, FEB. 12 AND
TUESDAY, FEB. 13, 2024, IN OBSERVANCE OF LUNDI GRAS AND MARDI GRAS

JEFFERSON, LA – All Jefferson Parish Government offices will be closed on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in observance of the Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras holiday. See below for additional closure information per department:

GARBAGE:
There will be no curbside garbage collection on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 for residents of Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte. There will be no make-up day for the missed garbage collection on Mardi Gras day; the next collection for those scheduled to have garbage pick-up on Tuesdays will be Friday, February 16, 2024. All four Parish trash drop-off sites and the Jefferson Parish Landfill will be closed on Tuesday, February 13, 2023 and will reopen on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Residents and businesses can find their curbside collection pick-up days by visiting the Jefferson Parish Environmental Affairs Department page or call the department at (504) 731-4612. As a reminder, recycling will not resume for unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte. Additionally, David Drive and Lapalco Boulevard will not collect curbside recycling materials. The Jefferson Parish Council Meeting discussion about recycling is available on JPTV.

JEFFERSON PARISH PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT (JPRD):
All Jefferson Parish Parks & Recreation (JPRD) classes and programs (not including Lafreniere Park and Parc des Familles) will be closed on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13, 2024 and will resume normal operations on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

TRANSIT:
Jefferson Parish Transit announced bus service changes for 2024 Mardi Gras season, which will be effective until Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Please note, bus detours go into effect two hours before a parade begins and will return to normal services once parade has cleared. LIBRARIES AND JPAWS:
All Jefferson Parish Libraries and Jefferson Protection and Animal Welfare Services (JPAWS), will be closed on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13, 2024 and will reopen to the public on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

JEFFERSON PARISH AMERICAN JOB CENTERS:
The East and West Bank American Job Center’s will be closed on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13, 2024 and will reopen to the public on Wednesday, February 14. For unemployment services, residents can call 1-866-783-5567.
