JEFFERSON PARISH OFFICES CLOSED ON FRIDAY, DEC. 22 AND MONDAY, DEC. 25 IN OBSERVANCE OF THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY

No garbage collection on Monday, Dec. 25; curbside recycling to take place as scheduled

JEFFERSON, LA – All Jefferson Parish Government offices will be closed on Friday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 25, 2023 in observance of the Christmas holiday.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING
There will be no curbside garbage collection on Monday, Dec. 25 for residents of Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte. There will be no make-up day for the missed garbage collection on Christmas Day; the next collection day for those scheduled to have garbage pick-up on Mondays will be Thursday, Dec. 28. The Jefferson Parish Landfill will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and will reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Curbside recycling will take place as scheduled for areas that receive pick-ups on a Monday. JPRD
All Jefferson Parish Parks & Recreation (JPRD) classes and programs (not including Lafreniere Park, Parc des Familles and some games on Friday) will be closed from Friday, Dec. 22 through Monday, Dec. 25 and will resume operations on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Please note: Lafreniere Park will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) and will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 26., with Christmas in the Park starting at 5:30 p.m. Visit www.JPRD.com for more information.

LIBRARY
All Jefferson Parish libraries will be closed on Friday, Dec. 22, Sunday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 25. Please note, all Jefferson Parish libraries will be open on Saturday, Dec. 23 during normal hours and will reopen after Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 26 for normal operations. JPAWS
The Jefferson Parish Protection & Animal Welfare Services (JPAWS) will be closed from Friday, Dec. 22 through Monday, Dec. 25. All locations will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 26 for normal operations.

TRANSIT
Jefferson Parish Transit will be running a normal Sunday schedule service on Sunday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and a Saturday holiday schedule on Monday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) and will resume with normal schedule on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Visit www.JPTransit.org for more information.

JEFFERSON PARISH AMERICAN JOB CENTERS
The East Bank American Job Center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 22, Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26. The West Bank American Job Center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 25 through Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. The West Bank American Job Center staff will serve residents at the Marrero Community Center (1861 Ames Blvd., Marrero, LA 70072) for training services from Tuesday, Dec. 26 – Friday, Dec. 29. For unemployment services, residents can call 1-866-783-5567.

CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING
Residents of Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte are reminded to recycle their Christmas trees in an effort to help fight coastal erosion. All Christmas trees must be placed curbside starting Wednesday, Jan. 10 and will be collected on one of the following garbage pickup dates: Thursday, Jan. 11, Friday, Jan. 12 or Saturday, Jan. 13. To efficiently help collect Christmas trees, fill out the Christmas Tree Pickup Form. Please note, no flocked, artificial or painted trees will be accepted and residents must take off all lights, garlands, ornaments, tree stands and plastic bags.
