JEFFERSON PARISH DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES
2022 RESIDENTIAL REHABILITATION CONTRACTOR INFORMATION SESSIONS
JEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Parish Department of Community Development will host its 2022 Residential Rehabilitation Contractor Information Sessions on August 26, 2022 from 1-3 p.m., and September 16, 2022 from 10 a.m. to noon. The purpose of these meetings is to update Licensed Residential Contractors on the changes and updates to the policies and procedures for the department’s various home rehabilitation programs.
Applications for homeowner assistance will not be accepted at these meetings.
Projects are open to Louisiana State Licensed Contractors, as well as those licensed to work in Jefferson Parish. Selected contractors are fully compensated by JPDCD or their designated sub-recipient for all work completed according to specifications in the contract. No money will change hands between a contractor and a homeowner. These are voluntary programs that provide income-eligible homeowners with a forgivable loan to make necessary home repairs. Properties are rehabilitated to make them safe and sanitary, so that they meet current building codes and/or to make the home barrier-free for elderly or disabled persons.
The same information will be discussed in both meetings, so attending both is not necessary. The following program policies and procedures will be covered:
Owner Occupied Rehabilitation (OOR) - The OOR Program is designed to assist homeowners whose primary residence has fallen into disrepair. Repairs may include interior and exterior repairs. These projects range in value from $10,000 - $55,000.
Jefferson Joining Forces (JJF) - The JJF Program is designed to assist home owners who have been cited by Inspection and Code for violations related to the exterior of their home. These projects range in value from $1,000 - $25,000.
Emergency Repair Program (ERP) – The ERP is designed to assist with urgent quality of life issues with the potential to have an immediate and substantial effect on the homeowner. Examples include, but are not limited to, issues related to: Roofing, plumbing, electrical, handicapped accessibility, HVAC, water heaters, etc. These projects range in value from $1,000 - $25,000.
In addition to the in-person training, JPDCD will also provide access via Microsoft Teams. In order to participate via Teams, contractors MUST RSVP to Philip Thomas via email at pthomas@jeffparish.net.
