FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JEFFERSON PARISH COUNCILWOMAN JENNIFER VAN VRANCKEN, PARISH PRESIDENT CYNTHIA LEE SHENG AND JEFFERSON PARISH OFFICIALS GATHER TO BREAK GROUND ON THE BAYOU METAIRIE PARK PROJECT
METAIRIE, LA – Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken, Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, and Jefferson Parish elected officials broke ground on the Bayou Metairie Park Improvements Project, which is estimated to cost $412,000. The park enhancements accomplish two goals: providing elements of storm water management as well as creating a more ‘user friendly’ recreational green space for the community to gather.
“This project offers double the excitement because it enhances the many ways our community will be able to use and enjoy this green space, while it also models innovative storm water management ideas into the landscape. It is about strengthening our neighborhoods in more ways than one,” said Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the park site, which is located at 2713 Metairie Road in Metairie (Metairie Road at Labarre Road). CLICK HERE to watch a video of the full ceremony. CLICK HERE to view a rendering of the completed project.
