FILMMAKER KEVIN MCCAFFREY TO DISCUSS LATEST DOCUMENTARY AT EAST BANK REGIONAL LIBRARY

JEFFERSON, LA – Kevin McCaffrey, a filmmaker, writer, editor and oral historian based in New Orleans,  will discuss his most recent documentary “Eternal Flow: Mississippi River Views,” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the East Bank Regional Library (4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie, LA 70001).

This presentation is free of charge and open to the public. There is no registration.

“Eternal Flow” is a collection of vignettes on different cultural, historical, economic and ecological perspectives on the Mississippi River. Viewers can learn about an itinerant "river preachers"; discover the history of the sugar industry in Louisiana while highlighting the lives of enslaved people; and hear about a “living laboratory” in the Wax Lake Delta – an area of Louisiana’s coast that is building land using sediment and fresh water in a landscape that is otherwise suffering some of the most extreme land loss rates on the planet.

McCaffrey’s documentary and archivist work primarily focuses on Louisiana history and culture, with an emphasis on the region's culinary history and environmental issues. His work has received both national and regional recognition. He has worked with a number of notable organizations dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Louisiana and New Orleans, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, Louisiana State Meseum, Historic New Orleans Collection, WYES-TV, Loyola’s Center for Environmental Communication, and the Louisiana Folklife Commission.
