ELECTION DAY IS TOMORROW, AUGUST 15, 2020
Voters will decide on the proposed sale of East Jefferson General Hospital to LCMC Health, the renewal of the East Bank Consolidated Fire Department Millage and the renewal of the Solid Waste Disposal Millage
JEFFERSON, LA – Residents of Jefferson Parish are encouraged to go to the polls tomorrow, Saturday, August 15, 2020 to cast their vote on the proposed sale of East Jefferson General Hospital to LCMC Health, the renewal of the East Bank Consolidated Fire Department Millage and the renewal of the Solid Waste Disposal Millage. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Due to COVID-19, there have been changes made to polling locations throughout Jefferson Parish. Items on the August 15, 2020 ballot that directly affect the health, safety and welfare of our community include:
- The proposed sale of East Jefferson General Hospital for voters on the east bank of Jefferson Parish.
- The renewal of the existing East Bank Consolidated Fire Department Millage for voters on the east bank of Jefferson Parish. This renewal funds more than 90% of the total operating costs of the department or Fire District 1. It is not a new tax, just a continuation of what residents have already been paying.
- The renewal of the existing Solid Waste Disposal Millage for voters in unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte. This renewal covers operating costs for solid waste disposal, including storm debris collection, street sweeping, parade cleanup and landfill operations. It is not a new tax, just a continuation of what residents have already been paying.
