ALARIO CENTER COVID-19 TEST SITE SUSPENDED STARTING SATURDAY, JUNE 6 DUE TO TROPICAL DEPRESSION CRISTOBAL
JEFFERSON, LA – With the potential threat to Jefferson Parish from Tropical Depression Cristobal, the Alario Center drive-thru testing site will suspend services from Saturday, June 6 to Friday, June 12. Testing will resume on Saturday, June 13, weather permitting and pending recovery efforts.
The Alario Center testing site will close because it is supported by the Louisiana Army National Guard and they are shifting operations to storm support. Mobile COVID-19 test sites in Jefferson Parish are not impacted at this time and will continue as planned, weather permitting.
Free COVID-19 testing is currently taking place at Terrytown Golden Age Center today, June 4 and tomorrow, June 5 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. or until all test kits have been utilized. The next scheduled mobile test site is Johnny Bright Playground in Metairie on Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10, followed by New Hope Community Baptist in Kenner on Friday, June 12. The National Hurricane Center forecasts Tropical Depression Cristobal will re-emerge over the southern Gulf of Mexico on Friday and move northward over the central and northern Gulf of Mexico during the weekend. There is a risk of tropical storm force winds this weekend, along with heavy rainfall. For more information, visit www.hurricanes.gov.
