Balancing Water Ambassadors
About:
Jefferson Parish has been undergoing a planning process leading to an Integrated Green Infrastructure Strategy (IGI) that will allow Parish Departments, Residents, and Developers to better understand how our future land use planning and regulations can lead to a sustainable approach that more effectively reduces flood risk to people and property over time. In an effort to gain consensus with the strategy and future regulations, the Ecosystem & Coastal Management Development Department and the Planning Department, created an internal group of individuals known as the Balancing Water Ambassadors, to lead the Parish’s efforts in this initiative. The group is comprised individuals from over 25 parish departments and provide experience in facility management/maintenance, education and outreach, grant funding opportunities, drainage/landscape design, planning, or inspection and enforcement. Having this group of diverse individuals meet monthly for at least one year will allow parish departments to take the lead on implementing the concepts called forth in the integrated water management plan.
